I hate "journaling" but for the past 2 years I've learned to take extensive notes on my thoughts, life, books, etc. and have been on the search for the perfect notebook ever since.
Moleskin's are too expensive, plus they don't fold in half and pretty much require two hands, plus they make you look like a hipster :)
Regular ole' spiral notebooks have been the best i've found and have used for 2 years, but they are A) a little large/cumbersome for carrying around. Not very durable and seem to be prone to getting spilled and rained on. C) not very stylish. They are great though as you can fold them in half, write with one hand and take notes with it on your knee, the spirial is perfect for stowing a BIC ultra pen for quick access and good for sticking loose leaf handouts in as well.
Well, the 5 Star Advanced does all these things as well as overcoming any of the Con's. I really love this little book and also that it is only $2.50 at Walmart. As a bonus it also has a few pockets and a movable divider for quick access to a clean page. And, the size is perfect to stack with the other "book" that I carry it around with.
